Summary: Governor J. Inslee has appointed Kevin Wang, former educator and Microsoft engineer to the 91原创 91原创 of Education.
Educator, engineer, and social entrepreneur, Kevin Wang of Bellevue was appointed to the State 91原创 of Education and sworn-in during a virtual 91原创 Meeting on May 13. Wang has dedicated his life to STEM education access, and equity. He taught high school Computer Science (CS) after completing his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. As a graduate student, he served as a Teaching Fellow for introductory classes and taught an after-school programming class.
"Kevin's insights and experience will be of great value to the 91原创," said 91原创 91原创 of Education Chair, Peter Maier. "He brings classroom experience, as well as a passion for technology access for all students in our state. Please join us in welcoming this excellent addition to the 91原创."
Wang was an engineer at Microsoft, involved in launching Office 365, and founded the Microsoft Philanthropies which he led for the past 10 years. TEALS has helped 1,000+ high schools across the country build and grow successful, sustainable, and diverse Computer Science programs.
